In home family sessions are always a good idea!
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the Leung family before during an outdoor session, and I loved it—but I was especially excited when they invited me into their home for this one.
This session took place just before the school year started back up. They wanted updated family photos, but also asked me to capture one of their favourite traditions—baking cookies together to get ready for the first day of school.
This is exactly the kind of moment I believe is so important to document. I’m a huge believer in capturing real, honest moments—the ones that might feel small now, but end up meaning the most. The way your kids curl into your lap, or how their little hand finds yours without even thinking… those are the memories you’ll want to hold onto.
There’s something especially meaningful about capturing this in your own home. These images become more than photos—they become a time capsule. One day, your kids will look back and remember not just how things looked, but how it all felt. The spaces they grew up in, the routines you shared, even the little traditions like this.
In-home sessions also make things so much easier for kids. Being in a familiar space helps them relax quickly and just be themselves. Instead of needing time to warm up, they’re often excited to show me their favourite toys or books, and that natural connection makes such a difference in the images we create.
As a Mississauga family photographer, I love outdoor sessions for their light and scenery—but there’s something you just can’t replace: the comfort, connection, and authenticity of being at home.
For this session, we moved all around their home and property—starting in the living room, heading upstairs into the bedrooms, stopping on the stairs, then outside to both the front and backyard, and finishing in the music area and kitchen. We really made the most of every space.
But that doesn’t mean you need a large home or that we have to use every room to create something meaningful.
Some of the most beautiful sessions happen in just one space—like your kitchen. Imagine documenting something as simple as Saturday morning pancakes. It might not feel like a big moment right now, but one day, when those mornings look different and everyone is pulled in their own directions, those are the memories you’ll wish you could go back to.
The bottom line is this; invite me over to your house and let me take pictures of you and your kids. And also, this family is so sweet, their girls are fun and silly and I had a lot of fun spending time with them!
